Day 1

Arrival at Schiphool airport

Schiphol airport explains different ways for further traveling. We recommend using the train. From Schiphol airport there is a train connection to Den Helder via Amsterdam Sloterdijk using the NS train services. Check for train schedule. You can buy tickets online or at the airport via the ticket machines.

Public transport from Amsterdam central or Amsterdam Sloterdijk

Intercity trains from Amsterdam depart every half hour in Den Helder. Arrival in Den Helder is on xx:26 hours or xx:56 hours. A taxi is available at Den Helder station or take the bus. Bus number 33 from Connexxion departs every xx:12 hours from Den Helder station. Leave the bus at the last bus stop near the Den Helder TESO ferry service. This bus stop is close to the entrance of Fort Harssens (royal Dutch Navy territory). Please report to the Navy security (intercom) that ENDURES is the destination. The entrance of our laboratory is approximately 100 meters from the gate on the left-hand side. It is also possible to walk the distance from the train station to Fort Harssens (see image below) that approx. will take 25min.

Car

1. Driving in northern direction on the motorway N9, at the junction with traffic light near the airport it will change in N250. Follow the Texel (ferry) direction at this junction.

2. After having passed the notification of Den Helder city, turn right at the junction with first traffic light.

3. Immediately after having crossed the bridge turn left at the junction with traffic lights.1

4. Following the road, pass another bridge until having reached this T-junction. Turn right.

5. Do not follow the road towards the ferry station, but enter the lane on the right side.

6. At the end of the lane there is an unmanned Navy gate. Report at the Navy security (intercom) that ENDURES is the destination.

7. After 100 meters you find the ENDURES laboratory on the left-hand side.

Day 2

19.04.2024 METIP at Willemsoord in Den Helder

METIP is the Maritime Emerging & Enabling Technologies Innovation Park. An innovation center, community, field lab, tech hub and breeding ground at the former Willemsoord naval yard in Den Helder, where the latest and emerging technologies are used innovatively for maritime, marine and offshore (energy) applications.

METIP is located on the former navy yard Willemsoord. From the station it is just a 15 min walk.
